Late Night with David Letterman

Very early yesterday morning Husband set out for Jimmy Fallon tickets.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t taping yesterday.

So Hubby wandered over to the Late Night studio to see if they had any stand by tickets.  He entered the lottery and won 2 stand by tickets.

For Dave’s 30th anniversary in late night no less.

All before I woke up or even knew he had left.

So later that day we checked in at the special podium at the theatre.

Apparently, we were overly enthusiastic.

The podium guy put a blue sticker on the back of our tickets.  Which means we were deemed enthusiastic enough for premium seats.

Starbucks just paid for itself.

Then we waited and waited and waited to be let into the theatre.

Husband and I ended up in the 3rd row, close to the CBS Orchestra.

While waiting for the show to start, the Orchestra played, then they showed us a hilarious video reminding us of the ‘rules’ that was hosted by Alec Baldwin, then the warm up comic told some jokes.  He was actually quite funny.

Then Dave came out and talked to 2 people in the audience who were wearing Late Night sweatshirts.

Then the taping started.  Because it was the 30th anniversary we expected some surprise guests or some sort of celebration but they really didn’t do anything, which was kind of sad.

Howard Stern was the guest.  I’m not a super fan of his but he was really funny during the interview.

During part of the show, Dave took the money filled envelope labeled ‘Brad Pitt’ from the front of his desk and handed it to Howard who pretended to throw it to the audience. All the bills just fell right in front of Dave’s desk, which was actually no where near anyone. During the commercial break, Dave came into the audience and actually handed some of the money out.

We didn’t get any, unfortunately.  But we were SURE we’d be on camera during that.

Wrong.

The camera just missed us.

During another commercial the camera panned over the audience and captured us.

It was really really really hard to see us cuz they slapped the preview for tomorrow’s show right over us.

I did manage to capture us in a screen shot off the full episode online before they put the preview over us.

Clear as mud, right?

When the show was over, we thought for sure we’d be on camera at least twice.

It ended up being one ‘don’t blink or you’ll miss us’ shot.

I’ll take it.

And as a bonus, Husband took an illegal cell phone pic of the theatre as we were leaving.

He may or may not get arrested if anyone from CBS reads this blog.

I’m pretty sure he’s safe.
