Tourist for 2 Days

Since our entire time in NYC has been spent unpacking and schlepping to IKEA, we haven’t been able to do much in the way of exploring.

My inlaws came to visit for 2 days and we totally took advantage.

The first day they were here we decided to get dinner and a show.  When they asked for a suggestion, I answered in a millisecond. I’ve always wanted to go to Cafe Lalo.  You know, that cafe from You’ve Got Mail.

Because if you’ve read this blog at all, you know that I’m obsessed with that movie.  I watch it multiple times a week.

Problem much?

The food was amazing.  The desserts were phenom.  Also, its 1.5 blocks from our apartment.  Danger.

After dinner, we went to a Broadway show.  My first Broadway show ever.  And it was Spiderman Turn Off the Dark.  The acting was just ok, but the effects and the movable sets were freaking awesome.

Today, we went to the Today Show.

See the blonde in the black jacket to the right of the reporter?  That would be my Mother in Law.  She picked the most primo spot on the plaza.

Husband and I on the Plaza.

Michelle Williams was interviewed right by us.  She is teeny tiny.  I don’t believe that she’s actually had a child.  Not possible.  She looks fantab and she had the sweetest personality, in the interview at least.

After the Today show we went to ground zero.  We didn’t get to see a whole lot but we did get to walk by the new World Trade building.

Then Husband just HAD to go see the occupy Wall Street protesters.  Most of them had left the park to do some sort of march so this pic of the protesters is pretty sad.

I’m super exhausted from all this walking and bouncing around. But we had a total blast being tourists in our own city.  Can’t wait to explore some more. Once I take a giant nap.
