What my Trip to Omaha Taught Me…

Yes I’m back.

See how well I’m doing with my resolutions?

Terrible. I know.

So my trip to Omaha taught me a few things. I thought I’d share a few.

Please take this time to click next on your google reader.

Its ok. I’ll wait.

Here we go.

#1: Thigh high wool socks are a freaking God send.

It has been exactly 3 years since I have ventured north in the winter.
It took about .1 seconds to remember why.
I bought 3 pair of thigh high socks at Target and wore them 24/7.  They are much more comfortable than tights, in my humble opinion.

#2: If your mother has a gas fireplace that you turn the gas and light it, make sure to light the ligher FIRST and turn the gas SECOND.

I nearly lost my eyebrows, eyelashes and the hair on the left side of my head.

Ok. I’m exaggerating.

But only slightly.

#3: Heels and snow CAN work.

Every night I’d show up at a restaurant/bar/party wearing some sort of heels.  The room would stop, turn and stare right at my feet and without a doubt someone would say “zOMGz you’re wearing HEELS?!” in the same tone someone might say “zOMGz you have 17 cats?!” And I would proudly say “well duh!”  I’m sorry people but fashion is one thing the snow will never take from me.  never.

#4: Must. Rent. Car.

I usually don’t have an issue getting around Omaha.  However, now that my siblings are teenagers (old lady alert) pulling them out from behind the wheel of their vehicles is about as easy as ripping a bottle glass of wine out of my hand.  It was a little tricky but I was able to see everyone while I was there.  It would have been a little easier if I didn’t have to wait for my sister to “get ready” or my brother to wake up. at 2PM.

#5: When you visit your aunt and uncle’s newly renovated home, be aware that, when you get home, you’ll want to rip your house down and rebuild.

My aunt and uncle put an addition onto their 100+ year old home.

It. was. the. bizzle.

Seamless.

the woodwork matched perfectly.  the granite. nomnomnomnom.  the built in buffet with wine storage for 24(!) bottles of wine…. must. have. now.  So now my plan is to tear up my whole house and replace everything.

Please don’t tell my husband.

your cooperation is appreciated.
